.jpg) This little fellow has a very appropriate name – Snowpaw, both because he has a white paw and for his pedigree of being a husky cross and loving snow. Snowpaw is about 8 months old and is settling in well to the household environment. He loves other dogs and people of all sizes and ages. Snowpaw is getting better with his house training and will make a great playful addition to any family. |

She was adopted from hart a while back but things changed in her home environment and she is now looking for a new furever home. Meet our new friend Emma. She came to hart as if she knew we could help her find a furever home. Emma showed up as a stray at a home, did not leave, and the home knowing of hart, contacted us for help. We of course agreed and had Emma taken to our vet partner to find out about her past. Emma has had owners at some point, and a record in puppy jail, but no longer has a home. This beautiful girl is a bit older, based on her greying muzzle, but is in great health and will make a very ready made companion for someone not looking to go through the “puppy years”. Emma plays well with other dogs, loves people, although can be a bit shy at first, and does well in the house. She thoroughly enjoys pets and cuddles and hanging out with other dogs. If you are interested in helping Emma find a lasting home, please contact us for more information. |
Maggie is a beautiful, playful, young rotti cross who has come to hart looking for a furever home. She is full grown and about 1.5 years old (Dec 2011), is good with children, and is ready to move. Here is what her foster mom had to say about her: Mavis is a very sweet and gentle dog. She will melt your heart with her deep soulful eyes. She loves to play with her foster sister Lucy - all the time! She could wrestle and run all day long! She enjoys all kinds of toys but the squeeky ones are the best. She is amazing about going into her kennel, and runs in there when we say "kennel". She is fully house trained. She is also very good on the leash, stays close to you and doesn't pull one single bit! Still unsure with new people but will love you for treats. Please contact hart, if Maggie is the one for you. |
Pepper is a young female lab cross (approximately 1 year old, Dec 2011) with energy to spare. She was surrendered to a family who contacted hart and are fostering her until she finds a furever home. Her foster family states she loves to play and run and would do well with a buddy her own size or a home where Pepper will get enough exercise and stimulation to satisfy her young needs. She plays with their own little dog, but sometimes size does matter (her foster sibling is a Shi tzu). Pepper responds well to training and loves all kinds of attention. If you are looking for an energetic puppy partner, check out Pepper by contacting us for more information. |

.jpg) Rooster is appropriately named for a couple of reasons. First and foremost due to his last digs being a chicken coop and secondly due to his bark. He definitely sounds like a rooster. This little fellow is 2.5 years old and is quickly adjusting to in home life and looks forward to moving into his furever home. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys the company of humans as well. |

.jpg) Our beautiful little friend Jetta has progressed to the point that her foster Mom says she is ready to start looking for a furever home! If you have followed Jetta’s story you know she was rescued from an area near the Edmonton International Airport after it was discovered she was living there and crossing the QEII on a regular basis to get food and shelter. She proved to be quite a challenge to capture, which is why she had survived so well where she did. With the help of numerous volunteers, hart was able to get Jetta into a foster home and her foster Mom has been working hard with her ever since to boost her confidence and trust. Well it has paid off as she will come out of her crate now and meet new people, even if a bit cautiously still. Jetta will still do best in a home that is relatively calm and quiet as she will likely always be a nervous pooch. So a house with young children or very active dogs will not likely suite her. Jetta is crate and house trained. She will walk on a leash but very cautiously. She is quite an escape artist and will require lots of patience and attention to settle into her new home. If you are looking for a very quiet, loving little black fox, please contact hart for more details on this special case. |

He is great on leash, loves car rides (although hasn’t mastered how to get into the car yet) and is looking for his furever home. Connor as a 12 week old (as of Jan 27/11) Shepherd/Husky cross who was recovering from the mange he was born with. Check out what Connor’s foster Mom had to say about his August debut: .jpg) Connor came to us 4 months ago with a bad case of mange and almost no fur. He now sports a blonde coat and he even sheds!!! Connor is energetic compared to his older foster sisters and the grumpy old cat. He quickly learned his place and has fit in beautifully. Connor sleeps and eats in his kennel and often stays in it while we work. If it is warm out he and his sisters stay outside in the fenced yard. He is very well behaved in the house but requires supervision as he has been known to chew a shoe or two. Connor has had plenty of exposure to children and likes them. He is a bigger guy and may jump or soft mouth but it is always well intended. Connor is skittish with people at first and is afraid of anything new but warms up. He has been going to the dog park to get over his fears. He is getting more confident all the time. Connor is a family guy who has lots of energy at 10 months old, but settles down easily. He is good with other dogs, cats and children. He can walk on or off leash, LOVES the car, and if you give him a chance to fit in with your family, he will be your furever companion. |
