As soon as the snow melts, Edmontonians hit parks and patios en mass. Our dogs are as glad as we are to have green grass and flowers in bloom. But even here in Edmonton, the thermometer can rise to a point where we need to think about keeping our dogs safe by keeping them cool.

There are few scarier situations than when your dog gets out of your yard, slips out of the leash, darts out an open door or jumps out of your vehicle and is gone. Your dog could be anywhere, but you know that your dog is not where he/she belongs, which is with you.

Here we are in the 2000’s and there is much debate on immunizations and vaccinations. Should we be vaccinating children and dogs? Is there too much of risk involved in the administration of vaccinations?

Vaccinations have become commonplace for dogs as they can effectively prevent potentially life threatening diseases like parvovirus, distemper and rabies. Not only can vaccinating protect your pet’s health but they can also keep humans healthy as well since some canine illnesses can be transferred to humans.

If you have watched us lately you know that we have been on parvo watch. When the MASH crew (Hawkeye, Hotlips, Radar, Klinger and Honeycut) came into hart’s care, they were all furry bundles of joy. They were dirty and smelly but as soon as they had their first bath, they were fluffy little pups with lots of energy.
