About Me:  Hi! I'm Yukon and I'm growing like a weed! I'm still a puppy so I will need a home that understands that I am teething with my sharp little teeth and might bite everyone's hands and feet for a little while, perhaps those shoes that you left by the door, and maybe even the kitchen table legs. Don't be mad at me though, I'm just a little guy and I'm learning. If you're patient with me, I'll grow up big and smart and know not to do those things anymore! I might also have the odd accident in the house as again, I'm still a puppy so I'm learning all about this "house-training" stuff. I'm also learning how to be "crate-trained". I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. I've already learned; sit, come, no, and I'm working on perfecting my "lie down", "stay", and "wait" commands. I'll get there! I walk pretty good on a leash although I like to pull a little bit.

The best home for me would be a home that has had previous experience with dogs and knows what to expect so they won't return me when I'm a year old. I'd love to have another doggy in the home with me but it's not a neccesity. I want you to know that if you choose me, I will want all your attention but I will be very loving and loyal in return. If you choose me, I will pick up my kong and move right in with you!

Behavior Notes:  Yukon is a puppy and displays normal puppy behaviors. He does get irritated when his playmates are getting something and he isn't. He can be a scaredy cat sometimes, so when hes showing fears make it a positive experience with treats, make him happy to see it. He can get very excited when seeing another dog and will bark, if not allowed to approach he will get frustrated and pull towards that dog. Best to remove him from that situation, so he can't see the dog anymore. He's been around children and enjoys getting petted and loves to lick in return. He is crate trained, he hasn't been left loose when alone as he is a puppy and will get into things. He is showing a nipping behavior, as typical techniques are not working a trainer is getting involved. He's a bit of a puller on leash, especially when he sees something he wants to investigate. He needs a home that can help him build confidence. He has some basic-training - sit, down, crate, wait and recall.

Health Notes: Yukon came into care with his brother after his mom and siblings had frozen to death outside. Needless to say at only a couple of weeks old, not feeding, exposed to freezing temperatures, these pups were not well. Their first stop was in isolation at the vet. It was only a couple of days before they started feeling better and let everyone in the hospital know through their yips and barks! Yukon is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella and is neutered and microchipped. As he is not yet old enough to receive his Rabies vaccination, if he is adopted prior to that age, that vaccination will become the responsibility of the adoptive parent.
