About Me:  More informaton about me coming soon!

Behavior Notes: Gem is a good girl, but can be a little reactive with strange people she doesn't know. If pushed too far, she will lunge and bark, she has had a one-off bite as she was pushed too far in a stressful situation. If she is allowed to initiate the situation, and approach on her own, she can be really good. Things need to move slow with her, to prevent any potential bites. She is crate trained, will whine and cry sometimes, but settles quickly. She is good loose in the house. She gets along with other dogs. She is great with kids, as she has been in a foster home with children. She knows some basic commands.

Health Notes: Gem came to hart from our friends at Lakeland College where she was a parvo survivor. Canine parvovirus (parvo for short) is a highly contagious viral disease that attacks rapidly reproducing cell. The more common form, and what Gem had, was the intestinal form which is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite. Today Gem is a happy, healthy and energetic dog. After surviving parvo, some dogs are left with a sensitive gastro-intestinal system, but Gem shows no signs of that sensitivity. Gem is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is spayed and microchipped.
